What a fun project I had in the works this month! My Retro Doily Rug has a fresh new look after the recent pattern update. This was actually my first time using 100% cotton yarn for an area rug, and I am absolutely in love with the final result. To make this rug, I used Dishie cones by KnitPicks, which was super easy to crochet while holding multiple strands together. The latest version of this design has recently been tested, edited, and released as an individual pattern…so it’s no longer a part of my Owl Rug.
Retro Doily Rug is made using 3 strands of yarn from the same cone, it’s a great technique described in this post – Long Chain Method. You will only need 3 cones of Dishie yarn (1 of each color) or 4 Dishie skeins instead of each cone.
- Dishie 400g Cones – 3 cones total, (1 of each color – Creme Brulé, Silver , Swan)
- Dishie 100g Skeins – 12 skeins total (4 of each color – choose any 3 color you like)
This super bulky crochet doily rug will create a perfect retro accent in your home, and I hope you will enjoy making it.
I love seeing different color variations, so please do not forget to tag me on social media when you post your projects. Here are some lovely creations by our testing team members: Courtney Knorr, Katie Bailey, Amber Woody, and Cynthia Fuller.
