I had a blast designing this new quilting pattern and I hope you will enjoy making it as much as I did! It’s not always easy to hug a hedgehog, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t. Inside his spiky exterior is a tender heart.
Needles the Hedgehog will brighten up your day and your living space, just get your thread and needles ready for this fun Jelly Roll project. When finished, use it as a reading rug, bathroom mat, wall hanging, or as a picnic blanket. You can even turn your hedgehog block into a modern quilt by adding negative space from background fabric. Needless to say, unlike other hedgehogs, Needles is not pokey…he is safe to step on and snuggle up with.
To make this colorful rug, I used Free Spirit Fabrics designed by Tula Pink: Designer Solids Jelly Roll, Pinkerville – Fairy Dust Cotton Candy, and All Stars – Pom Poms and Stripes Tent Stripe Petunia.
Not to worry if you don’t have a Jelly Roll in your stash, you can use up your fabric scraps or even upcycle your old jeans!!! The pattern includes both versions – with or without a background.
