Over the past few months, I’ve learned something deeply important... unity is the only path to victory. We are strongest when we stand together and support one another. My new design is inspired by the bravery and resilience of the Ukrainian people. The Together We Stand Bucket Hat pattern is written in English, and with the help of my mom, I recently translated it into Ukrainian as well.

A Symbol of Unity
The pink bucket hat took on a powerful patriotic meaning after Kalush Orchestra won the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest for Ukraine. Their iconic “Panama Kalush” became a symbol of unity, pride, and global support for Ukrainians everywhere. Its purpose is simple yet profound - to bring people together and help raise funds for Ukrainian defenders.
A little fun fact: Kalush is a city nestled in the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains, in the Ivano‑Frankivsk region of western Ukraine.

About the Design
The top and brim of this bucket hat are double‑sided, giving it extra structure and added protection from UV rays. It’s a wonderful summer accessory, and with seven sizes included in the pattern, you can make one for every member of your family.
For the best results, I recommend using cotton yarn, which is breathable and comfortable for warm weather. I used Bernat Handicrafter (100% cotton, medium weight 4) by Yarnspirations, but any similar yarn will work... just be sure to check your gauge. The hat shown below was made with Lily Sugar ’n Cream cotton yarn.
Customize Your Hat
The contrasting lacing is an optional decorative detail. You can leave it off for a simpler look or personalize your hat with crochet flowers instead. I used flowers from my Ukrainian Vinok pattern to decorate the hat below, and it turned out beautifully.
