The Girl That Inspired The World

The Girl That Inspired The World

They say no two people see color in exactly the same way. So is black the sum of all colors… or the absence of color entirely? Either way, it’s beautiful, and I couldn’t resist crocheting a gothic doll inspired by the unforgettable Wednesday Addams.

I used one of my older designs, the Josefina Doll And Jeffery Elephant Pillow, as the base and made a few small adjustments. For yarn, I chose a lovely cotton‑blend (Sirdar Stories DK) from my local shop:

  • 3 balls of Silent Disco
  • 1 ball of Iced Latte
  • 1 ball of Smile

(Those color names alone were enough to win me over!)

What I Changed

If you already have the doll pattern, here’s how I customized mine:

Legs:

  • Worked Round 4 in bpsc instead of sc to create a ridge between the sole and the boot
  • Used black yarn through Round 12
  • Added 12 rounds of black‑and‑white striped socks
  • Finished the upper leg in beige

Dress:

  • Free‑handed the classic Wednesday collar by crocheting two shells around the neckline, followed by a row of single crochet

Arms:

  • Experimented with wire armatures to make them movable and poseable; this part was incredibly fun, and the results were fantastical

A Gothic Gal With Attitude

This moody little doll has quickly become my partner in crime, and I hope she brings a smile to your face too. The black parasol in the background is from my Pineapple Lace Parasol pattern, which pairs perfectly with her gothic charm.
