Get cozy and snuggle up with your very own Snooze ‘n’ Snuggle Woolly Sheep. I’m so delighted with this new crochet design, and I hope you enjoy making it just as much. This mid‑size amigurumi measures about 19″ across the stretched legs and 9″ tall in a lying position... just the right size for hugs, naps, and cuddles.

Soft, Loopy, and Wonderfully Woolly
I designed this sheep using Chenille Home Slim Solid by Loops & Threads... an incredibly soft, super‑bulky (6) yarn from Michaels. For the fluffy texture, I used my favorite locked sc‑loops, which work beautifully with this yarn. They’re simple, satisfying, and create the perfect woolly look.
Make It Any Size You Like
You can easily adjust the size of your sheep by choosing a different yarn weight and a suitable hook. Your finished measurements will vary depending on your yarn and gauge, and the yardage may change as well.
Here’s a quick comparison:
- Medium weight yarn (4): approx. 10.5″ × 6.5″
- Sport weight yarn (2): approx. 6.5″ × 4.5″
It’s amazing how the same pattern transforms with different fibers.

A Special Handspun Version
A while ago, I bought a bag of unprocessed wool from a local farmer in Southern Ontario. It took me years to wash, comb, and spin it, but the final yarn was worth every minute. I also had some beautifully prepared Shetland fleece that was a joy to spin.

I knew these handspun yarns would be perfect for a small amigurumi, so I used them to make a Valais Blacknose sheep with this pattern... and oh my goodness, it turned out adorable. This tiny lamb fits right in the palm of my hand, and my heart melts every time I look at it.
