Meet Jabka The Traveling Frog

Say hello to Jabka, a sweet little froggy who hopped into my life just in time to celebrate this year’s extra day... with big dreams of exploring the world. His name means “little frog” in Ukrainian, and he truly lives up to it. Wherever I go, he’s ready for an adventure. He’s especially obsessed with yarn shopping and stealing the spotlight. We’ve both fallen head‑over‑heels for Felted Tweed by Rowan Yarns… our newest shared obsession.

A Frog Who Travels in Style

Let Jabka hop right into your heart and brighten your day. To make him travel‑ready, the pattern includes a froggy harness that attaches to your bag, belt, or even your favorite sweater, so you and Jabka can go everywhere together.

The pattern also includes instructions for his removable red boots, which you can make in any color to match your own outfits. And here’s a fun twist... these tiny boots double as adorable Christmas ornaments.

A Tiny Hat for a Tiny Traveler

After finishing another bear sweater from my Rocky The Mountain Bear pattern, I had some leftover yarn and couldn’t resist making Jabka a matching hat for our next adventure. I love finding creative ways to use yarn scraps; tiny accessories are always such a joy.

A cozy crochet sweater is perfect for outings with my little friend. I can easily pull the harness ties through the sweater stitches to keep him secure while we’re on the go.

Make Jabka in Any Size

Although I designed the pattern using DK weight Felted Tweed, you can easily size your frog up or down by choosing a different yarn weight and hook:

  • Fingering (1) – 2 mm hook
  • DK (3) – 3 mm hook
  • Aran (4) – 4 mm hook

For example, this tiny frog made with Rowan Summerlite 4‑ply (fingering weight) turned out about 4" tall in a sitting position, fitting perfectly in my hand. He’s almost too cute for words.
