Meet Jabka The Traveling Frog
Share
Say hello to Jabka, a cute little froggy that I designed for leaping into this year's extra day with big dreams of exploring the world. With a name meaning "little frog" in Ukrainian, this little guy is always up for a stroll wherever I go. He's totally obsessed with shopping for yarn with me and hogging all the spotlight. We can't get enough of Felted Tweed by Rowan Yarns...it's our latest obsession!
Let Jabka hop into your heart and make you smile. To be travel-ready, you can make a froggy harness that attaches to your bag, belt, or even your favorite sweater, allowing you and Jabka to do everything together!
The pattern includes instructions for the harness and removable red boots (which you can make in any color to match your own outfits). These boots can also double as festive Christmas ornaments for your tree - how cute is that?!
As I recently finished another bear sweater from my Rocky The Mountain Bear pattern, I had some extra yarn and thought it would be fun to make a matching tiny hat for Jabka to wear on our next adventure. I love improvising with yarn leftovers and finding creative ways to reuse and repurpose them!
A crochet sweater is perfect for going out with my tiny friend as I can easily pull the ties from the harness through the sweaterstitches and keep him secure on the go.
While I designed this pattern using a DK weight yarn (Felted Tweed by Rowan), you can easily make your Jabka smaller or larger by simply using a thinner or thicker yarn with a suitable size hook.
Fingering (1) - 2 mm hook
DK (3) - 3 mm hook
Aran (4) - 4 mm hook
For instance, this tiny froggy from Rowan Summerlite 4-ply (fingering weight yarn) turned out just about 4" in a sitting position, fitting perfectly in my hand. He is just too cute for words!!
I can't wait to meet your charming little froggies. Make sure to tag me on social media so I can see your completed projects!
