EXCITING NEWS…I wrote another book!! It’s been a long journey and I’m so thrilled to announce that Crochet Animal Blankets and Blocks can now be preordered and will be available in your local bookstores next month.

My new book is loaded with adorable exclusive designs and project ideas. It features 18 animal blocks that you can incorporate into different projects, such as blankets, cushion covers, toy storage bags, book bags, backpacks, and super sweet wall hangings. There are so many variations, the only limit is your imagination.

When making blocks, you will use the Intarsia colorwork technique and then add a few appliqué pieces to finish the animal faces. Many of the designs feature 3D elements like ears, hair, flowers, and bows. Intarsia allows you to change colors without carrying yarn horizontally through the stitches, so each section of color has its own working yarn that moves from row to row as you crochet. Not to worry, I included a beginner-friendly guide and in-depth advice on all the crochet techniques used in the book.

There are 16 main animal designs – Panda, Cat, Dog, Fox, Raccoon, Penguin, Pig, Sheep, Koala, Sloth, Lion, Hippo, Cow, Unicorn, Bunny, and Monkey. To make the most out of it, you can mix and match elements from different blocks to create new animals like these additional 2 blocks – Horse and Bear.

The finished animal blocks are 15 x 18in (38 x 45.5cm), which can be pieced together into a blanket (small, medium, or large) using one of the provided joining techniques: Whipstitch Through FLO, Mattress Stitch, Slip Stitch Through BLO or Join-As-You-Go. You can finish a blanket without a border, add a Granny Square border, or crochet a fancy Shell Border to turn your special handmade blanket into a meaningful family heirloom that can be passed down to future generations.

A cute animal pillow will make your living room feel warm and inviting. You can also change the look of a bedroom while keeping your kid’s décor sweet and adorable. A cushion cover is easy to remove for washing or switch for a change whenever you decide.

Why not bring a book to the beach in a lovely backpack or make a colorful book bag to inspire your kids to read before bed. This is a great project that you can finish in no time while having fun making animal blocks.
