Twisted yarn cords are so much fun to make! All you need is some yarn and your hands... though having a friend help can make the process even more exciting.
How to Prepare Your Yarn
- Create two bundles of yarn in two different colors. Each bundle should have 4 strands. Make each bundle about 3× longer than your desired finished cord length.
- Fold each bundle in half and loop them together at the center.
- Attach one end of the yarn bundle to something stationary, or ask a friend to hold it firmly.
- Twist the yarn very tightly in the same direction, keeping steady tension.

How to Form the Cord
After twisting:
- Insert the end you’re holding through the bottom of an earflap (a crochet hook helps).
- Slide your hat to the center point where the two colors meet. If you’re not attaching the cord to a hat, simply fold the twisted bundle in half at the center.
- Bring both ends together and let it spin. The twist will naturally form the cord.
- Tie a knot at the end and trim the yarn tails.
