John the Canadian Bear is very lovable and huggable big amigurumi. As a Canadian fellow, he like to play hockey and explore the great outdoors! This pattern is written row-by-row using US crochet terms. It also includes crochet diagrams, step-by-step photos, and a conversion chart to UK terms.

CROCHET LEVEL & SKILLS:
• Confident Beginner
• Chain, slip stitch, single crochet, back post single crochet, working in rows and in the round, increasing, decreasing, sewing.
SIZE: Approximately 31” (78.75 cm) tall. If you wish to make your bear smaller, just use a thinner yarn with a suitable size hook.
TOOLS & MATERIALS you will need:
• Bernat Blanket Big Ball Yarn; Weight: 6 / Super bulky; Qty: 3 skeins
• A small amount of Medium Weight yarn (4) for nose and maple leaves - any contrasting color(s)
• Bulky yarn needle
• Stitch markers
• 2 buttons for eyes - 1” (2.5 cm)
• Polyester stuffing - approximately 45 oz (1.3 kg)
• Lace ribbon 3 1⁄2” (9 cm) wide & Fray Check or bandanna
• Crochet hooks: 5 mm (H), 8 mm (L)
GAUGE: 9 sc X 9 rows = 4” X 4” (10 X 10 cm), working with Bernat Blanket yarn and a 9 mm (M/N) hook.
